About Asymmometry

Me

Let me tell you a little bit of my former self (or who I was in my "past life" as I like to call it) and why I called my website “Asymmometry”.

I used to be a single woman living it up in The City of Brotherly Love, even running two businesses at one point in time. It all happened after a traumatic breakup from a guy I thought I was going to marry. I mean why else would anyone leave their first apartment in PA, move to NJ, quit a cushy job of Wedding/Event Planning for a new job in Medical Sales located 3 hours from home and drive there 2-3 days/week? I was in love and thought I was headed down the aisle. Afterall I was 27 years old and most of my friends were already married or about to get married.

But God had other plans for me.

My relationship ended in a TERRIBLE way, and I found myself driving with a couple of bags, my cat and his food bowls across the Walt Whitman Bridge calling my mom from my cell asking if I could stay with her.

From there I took a job working as an Event Planner for a nightlife website in Philadelphia which ultimately led to me making the decision to start my own company just 3 years later. So, at the ripe age of 30 I began my Marketing & Events Company and one year after that I launched a Modeling Agency.

The days were long and the nights were even longer. I was having a blast! I met so many people, was making great money, attending some of the best parties across Philadelphia and moonlighting with some of the more well-known personalities across the city and nation. I had a couple of serious relationships in between that time, but I kept my options open and just had fun with my friends while doing all of it. I was in the prime of my life and I had no desire to stop anytime soon to settle down with a husband or kids.

I thought THAT was what life was all about.

Until I was shown that it wasn’t.

I got so tired of running from a commitment and choosing one nightmare of a guy to date after another, so I changed my outlook (and hence my life) and met and married a wonderful man after just one year of dating.

We met in 2010 (well, as my husband likes to say he met me in 2010, but I didn’t meet him until 2015) after he had just returned home from a year in Costa Rica and in school for teaching and bartending for an Italian restaurant in Northern Liberties who happened to be my client. Just when he was getting ready to ask me out, I walked in with a guy I was dating one night. My husband took one look at the guy and assumed if this is the kind of guy I was into, then he didn’t stand a chance (the guy was Italian, in sales, and was the loudest in the room with a strong love of alcohol)! So, my husband never asked me out. Whomp, Whomp, Whomp.

Five years passed and my husband saw me one night while browsing a dating app. He noticed my profile and decided to send me a private message through Facebook Messenger. He reminded me of how we met and we instantly started chatting. Three days later he asked me to meet for coffee. Seven months later he proposed and just five months after that we were married. It was a whirlwind of a year!

Just when I thought my life couldn't get any topsy-turvier, I couldn't carry a baby to term. We always discussed adoption in addition to trying for a biological child, but then it became our one and only option. We didn't just adopt one baby, but we adopted twin, medically fragile African American boys.

My business got crushed by the Pandemic, our adoption date got put on hold, and one of our sons wasn't developing like the other. Suddenly everything I truly ever knew was no longer the way for me; so, I decided my career and personal goals would be put on hold in order to pursue every ounce of help possible for our little boy.

Life threw me a curveball, so I learned how to hit curveballs!

Now with the information I have and the ability to bounce back from - well, pretty much everything, I want to help empower other women! My mission is to help other moms (of every kind) find their truest strength and rise up to their own callings. We are powerful creatures affecting the world around us in every way - so let's tap into it and get back on the path we were (always) meant to be on.

XOXOXO,

Jessica
